From our Bespoke Collection - where you can choose the frame colour and the fabric - is this 2 seat French Porters Chair. These were traditionally used in the 16th Century in France by sentries and gatekeepers of large homes and chateaux. The gatekeepers were kept 'reasonably' protected against drafts in an often cold hallway by the curved sides of the chair. The grand style and design of the Porter's Chair has withstood the passing of time and these remain a magnificent feature chair today.

Shown here in gold and also unfinished, it is made from solid mahogany and is finished/upholstered in the UK resulting in an exceptional piece.

We offer three styles of Porters chair:
1.  fully upholstered (no rattan)
2.  rattan backed and can be painted or polished. The rattan allows small rays of light to pass through for a pleasing effect. 
3.  a 2 seat Porters chair with a rattan back that can be painted or polished or the rattan can be removed allowing this to be upholstered.
